PRP Skin Treatments

As we grow older, there are many factors, environmental or genetic, that can begin to take a toll on the skin. Luckily PRP treatments can target a variety of skin appearance issues. Some patients trying PRP skin treatments are finding that the treatment can aid in:

  • Reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
  • Getting rid of deep creases present in the skin
  • Diminishing acne scars
  • Plumping up sagging skin
  • Improving the look of one’s complexion

1. Short Turnaround Time

The process of PRP skin injections takes very little time, usually around 30 minutes. Therefore, you’ll be able to come to our clinic, get this nonsurgical outpatient treatment, and go about your daily activities almost immediately after. You’ll begin to notice results after a few weeks. Your dermatologist may also recommend multiple PRP injections to help you achieve the results you want. Usually, we recommend around 3-4 rounds of treatments for the most optimal results. Results from PRP injections can last up to 18 months.

2. No Filler Needed

One of the main benefits of PRP skin treatment is that the plasma used for this procedure is blood drawn directly from the patient, which dermatologists spin down to isolate platelets. Therefore, the basis of this treatment is naturally derived from the patient’s own system to regenerate beneficial properties in the skin.

3. Minimal Side Effects

After the procedure, we recommend following a gentle skincare routine. One of PRP skin injections’ benefits is that there are only minimal temporary side effects such as redness, tingling, swelling, tenderness, bruising, or some feelings of pressure at the injection sites. However, these side effects are not around for long.

4. Rejuvenating Results

Platelet-rich plasma were used for decades before health professionals deemed it a dermatology breakthrough. These injections have been used for wound and soft-tissue healing by surgeons and wound-care physicians. Because of their regenerative properties, PRP injections show great promise in supporting the treatment of hair loss, crepey skin, acne scars, stretch marks, and so much more.

Platelet-rich plasma is a type of autologous serum prepared with the patient’s own blood. This plasma is a preparation of platelets in concentrated blood plasma. Professionals extract the blood at the time of treatment and then conduct a procedure that separates red blood cells from white blood cells and the platelet-rich plasma.

A second manipulation concentrates the platelets 6-7 times what would be found in whole blood. The concentrated plasma is then injected into the skin or applied topically on the skin with microneedling when doing a vampire facelift.

After treatment there may be minimal side effects like redness, tenderness, bruising, and swelling. It is key to maintain a sensitive skin routine to nourish skin without exposing it to harsh dyes and chemicals after this form of treatment. PRP skin treatments are considered generally safe, but we do recommend certain patients consider other options if they have certain medical conditions
